The pc has a Samsung 24x writer while the Laptop has a 24x DVD combo. I 
usually go for 16x or 20x. Never full speed. I am not happy with Gnome's 
in-built burner. Anyway, I will burn some more CDs on KDE and Gnome to 
probe deeper.
