Kopete should be present of Kubuntu or on Ubuntu it should be gaim.
For Kopete just create a new account. You can get this option from
Setting -> Configure -> New. Then you can get a new account wizard
where you can select the required mesaging service from those listed
and go on adding the required field.
For gaim, Account => Add then select the required fields from those
available.
Nothing extra to be done.
