U would need a very big hardisk to install the internet on your box.
But we could get a connection to the net working and i suppose that is 
what u want. Please answer the following questions
1) what make of modem
2) what network card / motherboard.
3) if u are using usb, remove that and connect the ethernet cable.
4) post the output of ifconfig eth0
5) post the output of ping 192.168.1.1
