On 08/14/2006 07:09 PM, Kenneth Gonsalves cobbled together some glyphs
to say:
>>> Who is RMS?
>> Dinesh, a few years back somebody else asked the same question on this
>> very list. He was then flamed to death and we never saw him on this
>> list (or any list for that matter) again.
>> So I'd recommend that you search the Internet for `rms'. This will help
>> you from fading into oblivion. But in any case, I think you have already
>> made the mistake ... fasten your seatbelt kiddo, the flames are coming :)
> actually it is a good, relevant question. Who is RMS? A person well
> known in the 20th century who has outlived his time
It's nice to see that people these days have learnt how to reap but are
happy to forget the person who sowed the seeds in first place. People
can _talk_ about the so-called FOSS or FLOSS but somehow decline to show
respect to the person whose idea it was. Moreover, the biggest
proponents of FOSS are at the same time the biggest users, nay
supporters of non-free systems and software. They call it `practical
advantages' but I would rather call it *hypocrisy*.
It's all the more reason why we should talk about rms and the GNU
philosophy now. If we as human beings don't know where we came from,
what is the difference between us and mindless zombies then?

Regards,
BG
