[ILUG-BOM] help reqd urgently

Hello,

i have red hat linux 7.3 running at my place.
i got gcc 2.96 installed by default on my system.
while installing an application, it told me to upgrade gcc.
so i installed gcc 3.2. it works fine.
while installing my internal modem, it told me "gcc not found"
so i did "locate gcc"
in the process i found a lot many "*gcc2.96.*.so" files
in the /usr/lib dir.
i removed all of them
then i did "cleanlinks"
after that my x server is not starting.
i tried installing gcc 3.2 again, but it did not help.

plz help urgently, as i am not able 2 do my usual stuff, & have 2 use
the crappy windoze instead.

ne help wud b greately appreciated.
