Just my 2 cents,

Although it is very nice of you to have come forward to help us by 
translating a chapter, IMVHO, this has nothing to do with the score you 
got in an academic examination. Especially in Free Software community, 
passion, participation and contribution is consider a more apt way to 
prove oneself than showing academic score cards. This is so true when 
translating a work done by some one like RMS in a subject which is not 
what was thought in your academics. Translating such a work needs a but 
of exposure to similar works, especially if anything is available in 
Kannada itself and a bit of gyan about the terminologies used is such 
documents (which unfortunately you can't know just because you had a 
very high academic score in the language). Also, anybody is free to take 
out a chapter and give a shot at translating it. Of course there is 
enough guidance available in this list to help you learn and improve you
