Why OSI ?

Dear Friends,

   I was surprised to find our country's own 'National
Informatics Center(NIC)' a governmental arm which
takes care of all IT needs of government align itself
with OSI.
 
If KELTRON goes by  Gnu/Linux or Free software why not
NIC.
