 Just an aside:

I had an animated discussion with another student about the
popularity of Linux. In _all_ the places where I have seen Linux
deployed, cost was not a reason for it. Even at home, most people have
easy access to Windows, thanks to the computer vendor's piracy.

Some time ago, Linux was the best OS to run in computer labs at IIT,
since it saved some money. But that too, changed when Bill Gates
visited IIT, and said, "No license required for you chaps". And we
still run Linux on computers.

I tried hunting for software export figures myself. Could not get
very far, even with google. Perhaps I was searching for the wrong
thing.
