Is it between 7-14 March, April, ...? If you mean March 7, it is
too late to announce, can someone catch a train/flight to Bangalore
for a talk scheduled for tomorrow at a short notice? Do you imagine
that people dont deserve to get the time to plan a trip?

Is Prof. Gopinath planning a private session with RMS, if yes, I
dont have any complaints at all. On the other hand, if the talk is
meant for the public, there is an undeniable responsibility on the
part of the professor (or the Board that includes the professor) to
tell the world. Is he not an Indian living in India who knows the
problems with respect to travel, reservation, etc.

There were no deliberate attempt to hide the information. There

I dont say that it is deliberate, but obviosuly ebbs from scant
regard for the conveniences of and ill-founded attitude towards the
public.

were several people coordinating with RMS directly and it created
   some confusion regarding the plan.

Only the specifics change that bothers only the organizers, you
could have told the tentative dates pretty early, even if there are
changes, you could have posted to the list about the changes always.
People will have the feeling that they are always kept informed.

Sorry for any inconvenience happened due to the same.

Yes, we have a few beautiful and inocuous words in English language
to hide our misdeeds.

It is time that the FSF India Board goes for a PR man who can take
care of the public relations just as Bradley does for FSF.
