There is a project on savannah that calls itself "20th anniversary of the GNU 
Project". And here is what it says.

"Celebrate the 20th anniversary of the GNU Project. Organize various events all 
over the world from 27th September 2003(when the initial announcement went out) 
until 5th January (when RMS quit his MIT job and actually started working on 
GNU)."

So what are we waiting for. Lets do it guys!
