<P>The XPhone will be a smartphone that can log in to computers with
the X Window System as well as to Windows Terminal Servers and do
local functions such as telephone calls
or downloading music; all these at the same time.
So it is smartphone and <b>mobile X Terminal</b> in One.
The possiblity to log in to a Windows Terminal server may come through
hacking / <b><i>reverse-engineering the ICA-Client for UNIX</i></b>.</P>
<P>First it is seen as a social and educational non-profit project,
for use at schools and universities; for example people who go to school
may log in to the server at the school.
But on a long view, it is possible that it will give profit,
because the XPhone will surpass other smartphones such as Apple's
<i>iPhone 3G</i> by far, and also the <b><i>Blackberry</i></b>
smartphones: I don't know whether you can log in to
a Windows Terminal server with them, but you cannot log in to
a UNIX/Linux type system with them, and seen this way,
they are already obsolete.</P>

<P>Das XPhone soll ein Smartphone werden, welches sich bei Computern mit
X Window System als auch solchen mit einem Windows-Terminalserver einloggen
können und lokale Funktionen ausführen können, wie etwa Telefonieren oder
Musikdownloads, alles zur gleichen Zeit. So gesehen ist es Smartphone und
<b>mobiles X-Terminal</b> in Einem. Die Möglichkeit des Einloggens an
Windows Terminal Server könnte geschaffen werden durch
Hacken / <b><i>Reverse Engineering des ICA-Client for UNIX.</i></b></P>
<P>Es wird in erster Linie als non-profit Projekt gesehen in den Bereichen
Schule und Universität und im sozialen Bereich, z.B. können sich Schüler
am Server ihrer Schule einloggen. Auf lange Sicht könnte es aber
gewinnbringend werden, weil das XPhone andere Smartphones wie z.B.
Apple's <i>iPhone 3G</i> bei weitem übertreffen wird, oder auch die
<b><i>Blackberry</i></b>-Handys: mir ist unbekannt, ob man sich
diesen an einem Windows-Terminalserver einloggen kann; an einem
UNIX/Linux-artigen System geht es jedenfalls nicht, und so gesehen
sind auch diese bereits veraltet. </P>

<P>Maybe the name XPhone already has been registered as a trademark,

all exist. But they have nothing in common with this project here,
and they have nothing to do with free software, as far
as I know; so a new project name is necessary.<br>
Preliminary name may be <b>OpenXPhone.</b></P>

existieren bereits alle. So weit ich weiß, haben diese nichts gemeinsam mit
dem Projekt, welches hier auf dieser Seite beschrieben ist,
und nichts zu tun mit freier Software;
daher wird ein anderer Name des Projekts notwendig sein. <br>
Vorläufiger Name könnte sein: <b>OpenXPhone.</b></P>
