[Fsf Education] IT Seminar for school teachers

Dear friends,


     On  24-May -05 at Kannur, there was a one day awareness workshop
on free software & GNU/Linux  for IT@SCHOOL.  About 80 school teachers
 participated in the programe.  The programe was the follow up of the
recent meetings of teachers asscociation KSTA and fsf friends where it
was initiated to start massive awareness and contact programs for
school teachers.

AT Kannur the seminar was inagurated by Honourable Member of
Parliament( M. P) Kannur, Shri A. P. Abduallakutty. Appartently Kannur
was the first parliament constituency in India, where M P Development
FUND was used to implement GNU/Linux based IT education in schools.

  Other official who spoke on the occasion included Shri K Raveendran,
DDE Kannur, Shri N Balakrishnan State Committe Member KSTA,  Shri V K
Saisidharan IT@SCHOOL and myself. Sri Sasidharan made the suject
presentaion and explained about the IT@SCHOOL programe.

   A demo practise was conducted using Ubuntoo CD.  

  Future Plans and Work. : Mr Dineshan, District Cordinator for
IT@SCHOOL will cordinate to make 15 sub dstrict level committe for
promoting GNU/Linux in schools and more workshop can be planned in
future.

             Next month, when schools reopen after summer vacation, I
have paln to help schools in installation and support.
